Susan A. Lavoie

Susan Alice Lavoie, 81, died peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2024. She was born on May 19, 1943 to the late Francis and Daisy Lavoie. Susan was a beloved, middle school, science teacher in Chicopee for 35 years until her retirement. After retiring from teaching, Susan became an Associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph, and soon served as Manager of the Associates of SSJ. In addition to her parents, Susan was also predeceased by her step mother Helen Rickus and her sister Margaret Lavoie. She will be sadly missed by her devoted brother Robert Lavoie and his wife Sandra of Troy, OH, step brother Walter Rickus, step sisters; Janet and Dorothy Rickus, nieces; Heather Burkey and her husband Ray and Kimberly Achs and her husband Rick and cherished great nephews and great nieces; Raymond and Alex Burkey and Haley and Kiersten Achs. Family and friends may meet for Susan’s Liturgy of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Michael’s Cathedral, 260 State St., Springfield. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Chicopee. Toomey O’Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
