Suzanne C. Hakenson

September 14, 1957 — June 28, 2025

Suzanne Hakenson, 67, went into eternal rest after a very short battle with cancer, on Saturday, June 28, 2025 in West Springfield, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield on September 14, 1957, Sue was predeceased by her husband Ronald Hakenson; this fall they would have celebrated 45 years of marriage. Sue was also predeceased by her father Russell Lover. She is survived by her loving mother Patricia (DeVoie) Lover. Sue graduated from West Springfield High School and STCC in Springfield. She worked many years in the clerk’s office at the Springfield District Court House, but found her passion as a home health aide, working with seniors. Sue had an unforgettable sense of humor, enjoyed dancing and music - especially soft rock. She loved to garden and found so much happiness in traveling and a love for cruising. She leaves behind her loving daughter Kristen Gawle and her fiance Glenn Gilbert of West Springfield. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Sage and Mackenzie Gawle and Scarlett Gilbert, all of West Springfield, who brought so much joy to her life and truly lit up her soul. She leaves her dear cousin Robin Sayward of West Springfield, whose love, compassion, and support will be forever appreciated, as well as her two deeply loved fur babies; Teddy and Bella, her rescue pups that rescued her. To honor Sue’s memory, we ask that you find your own special way to celebrate her life. At her mother’s request, Sue’s committal service will be held on Friday, July 11th at 9:00 AM at the MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Toomey O’Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
