Sylvia Ruth Moriarty

Amherst – Sylvia Ruth Moriarty passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, at the Center for Extended Care at Amherst. She was born in Northampton to the late Edward and Helen (Wickland) Madison, she was 87 years old. Sylvia graduated high school in 1955 and enjoyed being a homemaker and mom. Sylvia was predeceased by her loving husband Robert Moriarty and her parents Edward and Helen Madison. She is survived by her son Paul Moriarty of Chicopee, her nieces and caretakers, Lea Fiega of Springfield, Debra Murphy of Harleysville PA and Alessandra (Sandy) Moriarty of Ware, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family. A Memorial Service will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam on Monday August 26, 2024, at 3 PM. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Center for Extended Care at Amherst and to Cooley VNA and Hospice for their kind and loving care in her final days.
