Obituary
Thomas William Kolb, 83, passed away Thursday Sept.26, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and was the son of the late Mary A. (McKenna) and William P. Kolb. Tom graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo. He resided in West Springfield since 1978. He was the Head Buyer for A & P and Foodmart. He retired in 2000. Tom was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield and taught CCD there for years. He also was a longtime member of the West Spfld. Lions Club. Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Joan F. (Deubell) Kolb, his five loving children, Laura A. DeAraujo and her husband Antonio of Brooklyn, NY, Kevin J Kolb and his wife Cheryl of W. Spfld., Michael F. Kolb and his wife Kristen of Monson, Mary Beth Kolb of Easthampton, and Tricia J. Kelley and her husband Richard of S. Burlington, VT, his cherished grandchildren, Camilla, and Nicole DeAraujo, Alison Martins, Bryan Miles, Seth Kolb, Matthew Kolb, Alexandra Dias, Lya Kolb, Ian Reopel and Emma and Rachel Kelley, six great grandchildren, his brother James Kolb and his wife Ellen of Orchard Park, NY and his sister, Margaret Curtin of Sykesville, MD, and many nieces and nephews. The calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Spfld. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 AM at funeral home followed at 10 AM by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be at the St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Tom’s name may be made to the Food for the Poor, Inc., 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, FL 33073 or to the American Heart Assn., 300 5th Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.
