On February 26, 2025, Thomas John Nostin, known to many as "Tommy", passed away. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Denise Cecile Nostin, his sister, Bridget Nostin, his mother, Margaret Nostin, his father, Thomas Nostin, his mother-in-law, Cecile Dufresne, and his father-in-law, Ernest Dufresne. He leaves behind his son, Thomas Anthony Nostin, his daughter, Stephanie Denise Nostin-Olivar, a granddaughter, Rhyen, two grandsons, Santino and Marco, a son-in-law, Daniel "Sonny" Olivar, and his beautiful sister and best friend, Christine Barber. He also leaves behind several nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins, and friends that he loved very much. Tommy was part of the graduating class of 1967 at Cathedral High School in Springfield, Ma. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Accounting from American International College (AIC) in 1975. In 1982, he went on to graduate Cum Laude with his MBA in Finance from AIC. Tommy was an avid sports fan. He was not shy about walking into any restaurant, bar, or tavern and asking the staff to put the New York Giants football game on TV so he could watch and cheer loudly. He loved watching Notre Dame football on TV, and he enjoyed playing golf "with his buddies" during the week. He would often share stories of his daughter's achievements on the soccer field and boasted about the number of times he had to be spoken to by the refs on the sidelines regarding his "passion" for the game and his "lobbying" as a spectator. He enjoyed visiting his son-in-law's boxing gym and listening to his grandsons' aspirations of being champion boxers one day like their Daddy. He would also FaceTime his granddaughter to congratulate her after every soccer match, gymnastics meet, and dance competition. He could be seen driving around his hometown of West Springfield, Ma with his "Proud to be an Air Force Dad" bumper sticker, and he loved that his son was such an accomplished member of the United States Air Force. Tommy looked forward to vacationing at Hampton Beach, NH and Disney World every year with his three grandchildren. He was the first one in line at the water slide and the last one to throw in the towel at the all you can eat brunch buffet located at the Beach Club. Tommy lived every day for his soulmate and wife, Denise. His love for her was evident not just in the stories he told after her passing in December of 2020 but in his actions. He made it a point to walk and visit her grave every day and did not relent even in the worst of weather. Tommy and Denise are now reunited, and he finally has his happy ending. Calling hours will be Saturday 2-4PM at the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St West Springfield. Tommy’s service will be Sunday at 2PM at the Funeral Home.
