Thomas G. O’Connor, 72, died surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Born and raised in Springfield, he was son of the late Francis and Viola (Majhor) O’Connor. A self proclaimed “numbers guy,” Tom was a self employed accountant for 50 years working for many businesses in the Springfield area. He enjoyed golfing and watching Seinfeld and Patriots football. A history buff, Tom particularly enjoyed the Civil War period and spending time by the ocean, especially Beavertail State Park in Jamestown, RI. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife Patricia (Fournier) O’Connor in 2009 and his sister Mary O’Connor. He will be greatly missed by his wife Mary Elizabeth Boileau, his children; Michelle Schmitt (Matthew) and Michael O’Connor, siblings; Kathleen O’Connor, Patrick O’Connor (Margaret) and Barbara Astry (Calvin), and three cherished grandchildren; Ethan, Emma and Caroline. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3rd from 4-8PM at Toomey O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
