Obituary
Verda Ann Goyette, 85, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2020 at Bear Mountain Nursing Home in West Springfield. Verda was born on September 5, 1934 in Agawam, daughter to the late Geroge and Alviana (Lemire) Goyette. She was raised and educated in West Springfield and was a graduate from West Springfield High School. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She worked for Strathmore Company for over 37 years before her retirement. Verda was very family oriented and thought to be the fun Aunt. She bought the best presents, the kinds of things your parents didn’t get you. Having no children of her own all children in the family were treated as her own. Verda took us fishing, to the movies, for ice cream and we love to visit her in Grandville! Verda was kind, feisty and had a great imagination. She loved traveling to Hawaii and spending vacation at Hampton Beach every summer. She was a friend to animals and animals were drawn to her. Verda enjoyed collecting dolls and had an extensive collection. Verda will be missed by all who knew her. Verda is survived by her sisters Thelma Troie of Agawam, Dianne Montagna of West Springfield. She was the cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her siblings Aldaige, Edward, Raymond, Beatrice, Anita and Avilda. Calling hours for Verda will be Wednesday from 11:00AM-1:00PM, at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD STREET in West Springfield, a Funeral Home Service will take place at 1:00PM. A burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery in West Springfield. The Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
