Virginia M. Gruska died suddenly in the comfort of her home on January 23, 2023.
Virginia was born July 22, 1942 to the late George & Phyllis Luccardi. She was a graduate of Agawam High School and worked Buxton in Agawam where she met her husband of forty-three years Chester “Chet” Gruska. While raising their family, Virginia worked at Crestview Country Club, Hubbard Security, and as a school crossing guard. She was pleasantly employed by the office of Secretary of State in Springfield where she was beloved by many. Her sense of humor and extreme kindness charmed all that knew her.
Virginia had a love for family and friends and her door was open to all. That loved overflowed in her cooking, many scrumptious meals prepared and shared over the years, but her famous meatballs were always in high demand.
She enjoyed going to lunch with her friends, the many trips to Foxwoods, Saratoga and Lake George. She really enjoyed the start of Derby season, you would find them all at the OTB trying to get in on the action. She had many lifelong friends and cherished each of them.
Virginia is survived by her children; Michael (Coleen), of Feeding Hills, Ma and Michelle Yacovone of Feeding Hills, Ma and Matthew (Karen) of West Suffield, CT., her adored grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, and Andrew Gruska, along with four precious great grandchildren; Trinity DeVoe, Andrew and Maverick Gruska and baby Michael Gruska due in early April. She is also survived by her cherished sister Karen Connors of Agawam, Ma and her brother Jim (Sue) Luccardi of Agawam, Ma and her sister-in-law AnnMarie (William) Donatini of Englewood, FL and sister-in-law Teresa (Stuart) Masure of Centerville, MA. Virginia is also survived by her nephew Eric (Vicki) Luccardi of Agawam, and her dearest friends Frannie Albro, Judy Alcorn and her dear cousin Dolores Cichetti.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Chet, her brother George F. Luccardi, her brother-in-law Tom Connors, and her niece Jamie Luccardi and many of her lifelong friends, Patricia Orlosk, Rose Rossi, and Donna Vallandingham. A Memorial Service will be held SAT 11 AM in Sacred Heart Church, 1061 Springfield St., Feeding Hills. Burial will follow in the Springfield Street Cemetery.
