Obituary
William F. Emmons, 73, passed away Sunday in Baystate Medical Center. He was born June 9, 1947 to the late William and Jean Emmons. Bill graduated from Chicopee Comp. in 1965. He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Bill was the owner of the former Bill Emmons Iron Works and worked as a supervisor for many years for the United States Post Office. He enjoyed working in his yard, playing horseshoes, going to turkey shoots and the New England Patriots. But most of all, he loved working on his 1953 Ford Crestline Victoria. Bill leaves his loving wife of over 51 years, Linda (Sigda) Emmons, his son; William Emmons and his wife Kristin of Feeding Hills, his daughters Jennifer Puffer and her husband Jeffrey of Swansea, MA and Jillian Emmons of Easthampton, his grandchildren, Hailey, Hunter and Hannah, his sisters, Kathleen Gallacher, Jane Dennis, Joann Deslauriers, Lynnann Carboneau, Karen Chartier and Sharen Theroux, along several nieces and nephews. Bill was also predeceased by his best friend Tom Benson. Calling Hours will be held THURS from 4 to 6 PM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD ST. Family and Friends are invited to his burial with military honors at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam on FRIDAY at 11 AM. Due to Covid regulations, masks and social distancing is required at the calling hours. At the cemetery, only 10 people are allowed in the chapel, the rest will be required to stand outside. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Bill’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 510 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168
