William J. Murray, Jr.

West Springfield- William J. Murray, Jr., 70, passed away Wednesday in the comfort of his home. He was born in Springfield to the late Ruth (Hickson) and William Murray. Bill was a graduate of Cathedral High School and Westfield State College. He was an elementary school teacher in the West Springfield school system for 37 years. Bill leaves his beloved wife of 48 years, Kathleen A. (Breault) Murray, his loving children Michaela M. Murray-Nunes and her husband Aric of W. Spfld. and Ethan P. Murray and his wife Vanessa of W. Spfld., his adored grandchildren, Brooklyn and Charlotte, his caring siblings, Michael Murray of W. Spfld., Sheila Stevens of Pittsfield, Mary Ellen Guerette of Westfield, Patricia Suchenicz of Dalton, Noreen Thayer of Holyoke and Timothy Murray of VA, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and James Murray. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine St., Wednesday at 10AM for a Liturgy of Christian Burial, burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7PM at the TOOMEY-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St., W. Spfld. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Baystate VNA and Hospice c/o Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut St., Floor 6, Springfield, MA 01199-1000.
