William R. O'Brien

William Robert O�Brien, 93, passed away Sunday at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Springfield on October 14th, 1924 to the late John and Margaret (Meissner) O�Brien. He grew up in Springfield and he later lived in West Springfield. Bill worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Springfield for over 30 years. He was a WW II U.S. Navy Veteran and served in the Asiatic/Pacific Theatres on the submarine Red Fin. He was formerly a communicant of St. Thomas Church. Bill was a former member of the VFW Post #7352 in Springfield. The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Baystate Medical Center for all the care they gave Bill during his time there. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Anna L. (Shea) O�Brien in 2007 and his five siblings; Walter, John, Harold, and Eddie O�Brien and Margaret Walsh. He leaves several cherished nieces and nephews. All funeral services and burial will be private. Toomey-O�Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements.
