Our beloved Uncle and patriarch Alexander Attilio Savini, 96, died on Friday May 20, 2022 with his loving nephew and niece by his side. Alex was called home by his sister Enez Savini Pertusi who passed away to the date three years ago. Alex was born on July 25, 1925 to Francesco and Ermina (Veneroni) Savini in his family’s West Springfield homestead and lived there for 93 years. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Josephine (Frank) Acosta and Enez (Carlo) Pertusi, his brother John (Pina) Savini and good friend Guerino “Rocky” Semprebon. Alex proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. In 1985, he retired from Combustion Engineering in Windsor, CT. Alex loved his family and never missed his sister’s Sunday Italian dinners. He stayed active by bowling, skiing and a passion of playing golf well into his eighties. He was a founding member and volunteer club photographer of Shaker Farms Country Club in Westfield. In 1995, he accomplished a “hole in one” and in 1997, was honored for Member of the Year. Alex leaves his loving nephew and caretaker Charlie Pertusi, loving niece Karen Gioranino and her husband Gary. He also leaves godsons John Veneroni Jr., Matthew Winch Sr., John Faits and several close cousins in New York and Southwick. Although Alex never had children, he was “Uncle Alex” to many and to Charlie and Karen a constant presence in their lives. Our heartfelt gratitude to Amy, Carolyn, Julie and Baystate Hospice for their compassionate care shown to Alex. At Alex’s request there will be no services or memorials. There will be a private family burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Alex’s name to Baystate Home Health & Hospice, 30 Capital Drive, Suite A, West Springfield, MA 01089. Uncle Alex, “Thank you for ALWAYS being a big part of our lives, we will miss you tremendously”.  The TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME IS IN CHARGE OF THE ARRANGEMENTS.
