David A. Stewart, 77, passed away April 23, 2020 in Baystate Medical Center after a strong battle with the Covid-19 Coronavirus. He was born in Waltham, MA to the late Thomas and Ethel Stewart. He attended Northeastern University and graduated from Massachusetts Bay Community College. He was the former owner of Triple A Guns in West Springfield. An avid shooter, he was a member of several local gun clubs. He was a LT. in the Army National Guard and was a Captain for the West Springfield Special Police before retiring after 50 years. Before moving here in 1965, he was a volunteer fireman for the Town of Watertown, MA. He was a former assistant Boy Scout Leader Troop 570 and was a deacon and choir member at Agawam Congregational Church. David also owned Baystate Diesel until its closing. David was an avid train hobbyist and member of a local train club and traveled to train shows selling under the name of Jimmy K. He also had a side business repairing trains. David also loved to read, listen to all kinds of music and go on cruises with his wife Ellen. Besides his wife of 55 years, the former Ellen (Estabrook), he leaves his son Eric Heinrich Stewart and his wife Tina of W.Spfld., his grandchildren; Eric, Katelynn, Samantha and Abigayle, his cousin Peter Arnold and his wife and their children of Alabama. David was predeceased by his son Thomas in 1985. A Graveside Service will be held privately for the family. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
