Dolores M. Gatti, 93, born in West Springfield, November 7, 1928, to the late Giovanni Larese of Auronzo di Cadore, Italy and Elisa DaRin Larese of Vigo di Cadore, Italy, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022 surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She lived in West Springfield until 1955 when she moved to Agawam where she resided. Dolores was predeceased in 2000 by her beloved and devoted husband of 45 years, Lino C. Gatti. Their love and lives taught their children the importance of faith, family and service to others. Dolores was a graduate of West Springfield High School, Class of 1946. She attended business school and worked in the offices of A&P Tea Company, HP Hood and in later years retired from the Southworth Paper Company. Dolores always had a smile and brought joy to everyone she encountered. She was the most amazing and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She devoted her life caring for many family and friends which earned her an honorary nursing degree. She was a devout Catholic who lived her faith and was an inspiration to so many. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Feeding Hills and prior to that was a communicant of St Anthony of Padua and All Saints Churches, both formerly in Agawam and St. Ann’s Church, formerly in West Springfield. Dolores was a CCD teacher, Eucharistic Minister for many years, President of the St Anthony Society, a long time member and past President of the Holy Rosary Society, served on Parish Council and was a long time member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society. She also volunteered for over 40 years at Heritage Hall Nursing Home to lead the rosary with residents, only stopping in 2020 as it was closed to volunteers due to COVID. Dolores was a past President of Agawam Golden Age Club Chapter #1 and treasurer for many years. She was a member of the St Ann Society and West Springfield Deadline Gang. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her family and friends, attending family athletic events, gardening, traveling, including many shrines and attending musicals. She was known by many as a gifted baker and cook who shared her delicious food and recipes. Dolores leaves her cherished children; Louis F. and his wife Ursula of Williamsville, NY., Lisa Gatti Whelan and her husband Daniel, Lynn Gatti Walton and her husband Scott, all of Lynnfield, MA., and Dina Gatti Bona and her husband Stephen of West Peabody, MA. and her 10 loving grandchildren; Elisa (Josh), Kristia, Danielle, Joseph (Katherine), Terri (Michael), Jackie, Nicholas, Andrew, Jimmy and Stephanie along with her 7 great grandchildren and 2 on the way. She was also predeceased by her brothers Valentino and John Larese. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held THURS 10 AM in Sacred Heart Church, 1061 Springfield St., Feeding Hills. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Kings Highway, W. Spfld. Calling Hours will be held WEDS from 5 to 8 PM and Thursday, 9:00 AM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD ST., W. SPFLD.
