Obituary

Estella B. Myers (Steadman), age 90, of West Springfield, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 16, 2020. Estella was born January 4, 1930, in Ferrisburgh, Vermont, a daughter of the late Louise and Charles Steadman. Estella was a beautiful and sassy woman who loved butterflies and all things purple. She was long-time resident of West Springfield where she raised her three children and returned to in 1997 after living in California and Nevada for 21 years. Estella loved to travel, spending a month in Australia in her sixties and traveling to Europe in her seventies. She was devoted to her family, spoiling them with her laundry expertise and was most known for her sewing skills, making “quillows” for those she loved. Estella spent the majority of her free time playing card games, mostly cribbage and hand and foot with her family and friends. Estella also enjoyed shopping until she dropped, especially with her granddaughter, Katie (her kindred-spirit) and Saturday morning trips to Walmart with her daughter, Linda. As a breast cancer survivor, she loved keeping active by taking walks and spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren, whom she adored with all her heart as their Gigi. Estella loved to dance like no one was watching and left a little sparkle wherever she went.

Estella was preceded in death by her son, Robert Faust; life partner, George Mongeau; grandson Joe Melaney, sister-in law, Helen Steadman, as well as eleven brothers and sisters. Estella is survived by her daughter Linda and son-in-law, Michael Melaney of West Springfield, her son William and daughter-in-law Deborah Faust of Feeding Hills, her grandchildren, Michael Melaney and his wife, Angie, Kimberly Dore, Timothy Faust, Katie Faust, Alex Faust and his wife, Janais. Estella also leaves behind five great-grandchildren; Collin Dore, John Melaney, Patrick, Kenzie and Robert Burns. She leaves her brother, Norman and sister-in-law Marcia Steadman.  Estella also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends across the world who will sadly miss her. Calling hours will be Monday January 4, 2020 from 4-6PM at the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St. West Springfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA. 01104-2396.
