Henry Dobosz passed away on May 2, 2020 at the age of 92. Our family has lost an amazing man who had a great sense of humor and compassion for others. We have learned so much from him. He was so loved and appreciated by us all. Henry was predeceased by his beloved wife of 69 years Alice Dobosz in September of 2018, as well as his brother Edward Dobosz and brother-in-law Zeke Desrosiers. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Christine and Mitch Cauley of Holyoke, Rose Dobosz and Lise Fried of Amesbury, Susan and Peter Fritz of Holyoke, Debra and Douglas Baker of Westfield, John Dobosz of Chicopee, Daughter-in-law Phyliss Dobosz of Springfield, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren, sister Irene Desrosiers, brother Walter Dobosz and wife Pat Dobosz, and sister-in-law Helen Dobosz. All of us admired and loved him and his great wit so very much. Henry was enlisted in the Merchant Marines and a veteran of World War II and Korean Wars. Henry and Alice were married in 1951 as he was leaving to serve our country. When he returned, they settled in Chicopee, MA and raised their family there and later years in West Springfield, MA. He owned and operated a Friendly's Ice Cream Shop in West Springfield for many years and later in life worked for Big Y Supermarkets until his retirement. In retirement, he enjoyed his family (especially his grandchildren, who brought him special joy), traveling with Alice, the Red Sox, Patriots, fishing, and daily worship of his lawn and yard. The gates of heaven will be wide open for Henry, and Alice will be waiting there for him and his great sense of humor. He always had the ability to make everyone laugh! He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. Our family is ever so grateful he touched ours. We love you Dad, Grandpa! Due to Covid-19 the service will be private. Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
