Jane Elizabeth Wagner, 79, passed away March 25, 2022, at Mercy Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hartford, CT, November 27, 1942, she was a graduate of Enfield High School and worked at Sullivan Paper Company and the West Springfield School System. Jane was a communicant of St. Thomas Church. Jane enjoyed reading, spending time with family and friends, especially her Bag Lunch Ladies, sharing the successes of her children and grandchildren for anyone who would listen, and most of all she loved each family members unconditionally. She was also a proud hockey mom and grandmother. Jane loved to crochet and was well known for all the afghans she made, especially those done in the college colors of her grandchildren and many family friends, as well as the baby hats she made for the NICU at Baystate Medical Center. Jane leaves behind her beloved husband of 60 years, James E. Wagner Jr., and three loving children, Glenn and his wife Leslie of Frederick, MD; Michael and his wife Laura Rice of Hanover, NH and Melissa Martin and her husband Doug of West Springfield. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren who she cherished: Brittany, Brendan, Sarah, Madison, Catherine, Quinn, Benjamin, and her special great-grandson, Greyson. Jane will be deeply missed by her in laws, Thomas and Cheryl Wagner, Susan and Thomas Kelleher and Karen Lazeration Wagner. She was predeceased by her parents Francis and Hazel Burke; sisters, Shirley and husband Tom Watton, Dolly and husband Jack Pelkey, and Mary Evans, brother, Bernard Burke, all from Enfield, CT, father- and mother- in-law, Fire Chief James E. Wagner and Loretta Lucita (Beauregard) Wagner Charest, and brothers-in-law, Robert and William Wagner. The funeral will be held Friday at 10am from the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11am from St. Thomas Church followed by a burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7pm. The family would like to thank the doctor and entire nursing staff at Mercy Hospital for their wonderful care.
