John Ryan Ashmore, age 10, died peacefully with his family by his side on April 9, 2022 at Umass Memorial University in Worcester, MA. John was born on June 6, 2011 in Fort Richardson, Alaska to his parents Amanda Shea and Matthew Ashmore, Jr.

John is survived by his mother, Amanda Shea of Ware, MA; his father, Matthew Ashmore, Jr of Gardner, MA; his stepfather, Adam Cornelius; his brothers Matthew Ashmore III, Owen Cornelius, Hunter Cornelius; his sister Melissa Cornelius; his paternal great-grandparents, Leonard and Gloria Patterson; his maternal grandmother, Brenda Sobeleski; maternal grandfather, John Shea; step grandfather, Frank Sobeleski; paternal grandmother, Lisa Ashmore; paternal grandfather, Matthew Ashmore; his aunts, Ashley, Emma and Ava Ashmore; his uncle Michael Shea; and several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins. His brother Dylan Cornelius preceded him in death in 2018.

Although John was nonverbal due to being born with cerebral palsy and mitochondrial disease, he left his mark on the world. He touched all of those that met him and deeply impacted and changed all of our lives for the better. He loved snuggling and going for walks. His smile was contagious.

Please join us for a service celebrating John’s life at 1230 pm at Red Apple Farm, 455 Highland Ave in Phillipston, MA. The memorial will be on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 12:30 pm in the blueberry field followed by lunch and refreshments from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the barn.
