Lori A (DuBois) Gaw, 61 passed away January 23, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield, July 1, 1959 the daughter of the late George and Marguerite (Goodfellow) DuBois. Lori graduated from Cathedral High School "Class of 77", the best class ever!  Lori continued her education at Baypath University, Mount Holyoke College and received her master’s degree from AIC.  She taught at the West Springfield Middle School for 25 years and was a member of the Mass Teachers Association. She leaves her loving husband and soulmate David Gaw, her beloved sons Michael O'Neil (Jessica) of Atlanta GA and Ian O'Neil (Laura) of Providence RI, her beloved brother, Michael DuBois (Mary) of Hampton, NH, her beloved grandchildren Lucian and Meret and her beloved stepchildren, Jessica Gaw (Tyler) of Scituate MA, and Matthew Gaw of Wilbraham MA.  Lori leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who have been so gracious and supportive.  Lori had a passion for teaching.  She excelled in the art of reading and comprehension.  She embraced children for whom reading was a challenge, not only teaching them to read but nurturing them to the point where they enjoyed reading.  Lori battled her cancer the way she lived life, with dignity and toughness while staying positive and maintaining her sense of humor.  Friends said, “The party doesn't start until Lori gets here.” Lori’s funeral mass will be Saturday, January 30 at 10AM at St. Thomas Church 47 Pine St. West Springfield. Calling hours will be Friday, January 29 from 4-6PM at the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St. West Springfield.  Due to the COVID crisis we ask that after visitation with the family, you exit directly to your vehicles. The family would like to thank Dr. Tashanna Meyers for her expertise, Sara Irish and the entire staff for their care at the D'Amour Center as well as the angels at Baystate Hospice.  Donations can be made to the Lori Gaw Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Checks can be made payable to the Community Foundation of Western MA (CFWM), 333 Bridge Street, Springfield, MA 01103 or online at https://communityfoundation.org/donate-now, in memory of Lori Gaw.
